Durban Airport Guide

Synonymous with great sunshine and beaches, Africa’s busiest port city, Durban is also the country’s important gateway to the world and is significant for the country’s export economy. Durban International Airport, one of the largest airports in the country, handles some 2.4 million passengers every year. The airport is in close proximity to breathtaking sea resorts of Umhlanga Rocks and Amanzimtoti.

Terminal Information: The Terminal building has an Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) Information Centre courtesy helpline telephones. The Departures passage is equipped with an ACSA Information Centre and an information desk. There is a Mr. Info touch screen information and a Teleguide hotel information board in the Arrivals. Furthermore, a tourism information office in the Domestic Arrivals zone provides information on accommodation, attractions, and events.

Airport Connectivity:

Cab: There are numerous cabs available from the Departures Terminal. Some of the services are Eagle Radio Taxis, Checkers Radio Taxis, Boshoff, and Aussies Radio Taxis.

Bus: There are quite a few bus services from the Departures terminal like the Super Shuttle, Coastal Motor Transport, and Cheetah Coaches

Car Hire: Car hire facility is available in the Arrivals areas. One can choose from companies like Thrifty, National, Europcar, Sixt, Hertz, Khaya, Imperial, Budget, and Avis.

Car Parking: There are open-air as well as shaded parking facilities. Trolleys are provided for lugging your belongings to the terminal, which is within walking distance.

Lounges and Spa: The Arrivals has an ACSA VIP Lounge & Conference facility. The Departures has the Domestic South African Airways Business Class Lounge. For a certain fee, passengers can also access the Premier Lounge of the Departures.

Food & Beverage: The airport is well stocked with both bars and restaurants. A coffee shop, cigar bar, pizzerias, and steak house ensure diverse meal options.

Shopping: There is no dearth of shopping facilities. Besides last minute duty free shopping, one may check out florists, luggage and even sports shops.

Medical Care: There is a well stocked pharmacy in the Domestic Arrivals area.

Money, Banking, Postal and Telecommunications: The ground floor of the Arrivals terminal has cash machines, while the Arrivals Terminal and the ground floor of International Departures are equipped with a bureaux de change and banking hall. The terminal building also has a post office. One can access fax and Internet facilities at Arrivals Terminal’s tourism information office. Internet access is also available at the public concourse, where mobile phones can be hired as well.

Airport Hotels: There are abundant budget Bed & Breakfast facilities near the airport.

Luggage: The airport provides porter service.
