Situated nearly five kilometers from the central business district and three kilometers southwest of the Algoa Bay, the Port Elizabeth Airport is no more than ten minutes from all major commercial areas of the city. No wonder it has earned the sobriquet of the ‘ten minute airport’ from frequent flyers who patronize this airport. Handling more than a million passengers per year; the airport also handles nearly 800 tons of cargo every year. With the FIFA World Cup drawing near, facilities at the airport have been upgraded to accommodate the estimated inflow of nearly two million passengers in the coming year.

Airport Connectivity

Shuttle Services: Operating in consonance with the flight schedules; shuttle services can be availed by passengers by placing a request in advance at the Arrival Hall. Passengers have the option to book their seats in advance for the return journey to the airport as well.

Cab: For commuting within the city passengers can avail metered taxis standing outside the Departure Hall of the terminal.

Car Parking: The Port Elizabeth Airport offers a wide range of parking options to its patrons that includes short term, long term and covered parking. Besides these facilities lock up garages are also available at the airport.

Car Hire: Both chauffeur and self-driven cars are offered by car rental companies that have set up their desks at the airport.  These include companies like Alisa, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Imperial and Tempest that promise quick, fast, transparent and hassle-free services.

Lounge: Passengers waiting for their flights can unwind and relax at the Premier Club Domestic Lounge that offers a host of conveniences and comforts. Apart from newspapers and magazines the Premier Club lounge also offers entertainment facilities like satellite television, music and on-demand internet access to ticketed passengers.

Food and Beverages: Numerous restaurants, snack bars, fast food joints, cafes and juice kiosks at the airport offer food and beverages to waiting passengers round the clock. If you want to grab a quick bite or savour a full course meal; there is no dearth of options for you at the Port Elizabeth Airport.

Shopping: Shopping options are aplenty at the airport as it has numerous book stores, confectionary shops and gift shops offering various kinds of merchandise.

Conference and Business Facilities: The Port Elizabeth Airport being the preferred destination for business travellers offers excellent conferencing and business facilities to its patrons. Conferencing amenities like television, videos, overhead projectors and white boards are offered for hire and passengers can also avail of catering services during their conferences. There is one conference room located at the Aero Park Block B that has the capacity to accommodate 25-30 people while there is another conference room at the first floor of the main terminal building known as the Landing strip conference centre.

Money, Banking, Post and Telecommunication: One can find numerous cash machines in the Arrival and Departure Halls within the terminal. Money exchange facilities are offered at the information desk while the departure Hall also has a post office to take care of the postal requirements of passengers.  Courtesy Telephones have been installed throughout the arrival and departure halls and are absolutely free of charge.

Luggage: Luggage trolleys are available in the Arrival Hall and in the Car Park area at the entrance of the Departure Hall to enable passengers to carry their luggage smoothly.

Other facilities: Baby changing facilities are available in the ladies toilets in both the Arrivals and Departures halls.

Facilities for Differently-Abled Passengers: Being a disabled friendly airport, the Port Elizabeth Airport offers ramps, lifts and wheel chair friendly toilets for the convenience of wheel chair bound passengers. Special Assistance can be availed by such passengers if prior information is given prior to departure.
