Day 03

Delhi – Haridwar (250 km /06 hrs)

Today you drive to the holy city of Haridwar in the state of Uttarakhand in North India. After six hours of journey by road, you arrive in the city by the Ganges and check in at your local hotel. In the evening, you will participate in the famous ‘Aarti Ceremony’ at the Har Ki Pauri Ghat. The chants of "Har Har Gange, Jai Ma Gange" induce goose bumps and the whole atmosphere is rendered divine. Later return to hotel for the overnight stay.  Read More

Visit Kedarnath by helicopter

Today is when you visit Kedarnath, a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva set on the Garhwal Himalayan range and accessible only through April-November. The 1000-year old temple is of great religious significance to Hindus and remains known for hosting one of the 12 naturally formed ' jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva' in India. The temple is said to be originally built by ‘pandavas’ from the epic Mahabharata. You will reach the helipad early in the morning and will be flown to the base in Kedarnath from where you will trek to the main temple. Following breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive towards the holy town of Badrinath, popular for an eponymous temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. On your way, stop at Chopta, popular as mini Switzerland of India and admire the breathtaking beauty of its rolling meadows and hills. In the evening, if time permits, visit the Badrinath Temple, an integral part of the popular ‘char dham’ pilgrimage in India founded by Guru Shankara in the 8th century. Badrinath – Rudraprayag (160 Kms / 06 Hrs)

In the morning, visit the holy Taptkund, hot sulfur spring that is believed to have healing properties, for a dip and proceed to the main temple premises for ‘darshan’ (meeting the lord Vishnu). After offering your prayers and respect, visit Brahamakamal, significant among Hindus who perform rituals of ‘Shraddha Karm’ here for paying homage to the dead souls of their ancestors. You must also visit the nearby Narad Kund, a boiling hot water spring is situated under the Garur Shila from where the Badrinath icon was acquired. The historical Vyas & Ganesh Gufa, a cavern situated in the Mana Village where sage Vyasa dictated the contents of Mahabharata to Lord Ganesha is definitely worth a visit as are attractions like Maatamoorti, Bhimkund and the "Mukh" of the Saraswati River. At the end of your exploration, drive towards Rudraprayag, located at the confluence of two rivers Alaknanda & Mandakini, and the gate way to Kedarnath & Badrinath.
