In addition to its glorious beaches, Ajman's coastline offers the sprawling mangrove forest of Al Zorah Nature Reserve. Located north of Ajman city, the reserve is a haven for a wide range of bird species, including large numbers of migratory birds, but it's the pink flamingos that steal show. The mangroves are best explored on a guided kayak tour - a fun and serene way to take in the marine and plant life.

Ajman's sandy beaches and clear lagoons are ideal for water sports such as windsurfing, jet skiing and paddle boarding. Scuba diving trips and deep-sea fishing excursions are also on offer.

A desert safari should not be missed on an Ajman holiday. Head into the Arabian Desert in a 4X4, where you can enjoy camel rides, watch a falconry display, or try sandboarding on the steep dunes. End your desert safari with a barbecue dinner at a comfortable desert camp.

Walking and hiking enthusiasts can head to Masfout, an enclave around 120 kilometres southeast of Ajman City. Here you can explore the wadis and rocky terrain of the foothills of the Hajar Mountains. Routes range from short strolls that lead to spectacular viewing points, to full-day treks across challenging terrain.
