Key cultural attractions in Madinah include the Quba Mosque, believed to be the first mosque ever built, and the impressive Prophet’s Mosque, which was originally built during the time of the Prophet and today contains his place of burial. Travellers can also visit the Masjid Al Qiblatayn, where it is believed that the Prophet received the revelation to change the direction of prayer from Jerusalem to Makkah. Another important historical site is Mount Uhud, where the Battle of Uhud took place – one of the greatest battles in the history of Islam. To the south is the historic Quba Castle, set on a hill in the Al-Duwaima neighbourhood
