Your Tour Itinerary
Day 1: De Opstal Country Lodge, Oudtshoorn
Leave Cape Town and move along the scenic Route 62 to reach Barrydale, a small village offering stunning vistas of mountains, hills and rivers and popular for its vineyards, orchards and local arts and crafts. Have lunch here (at your own cost). Continue toward Oudtshoorn, the town popular as the ‘ostrich capital of the world’ as the result of being home to world’s largest population of ostriches. Take a guided tour of a working ostrich farm and learn about history of the ostrich industry of Oudtshoorn. Check into your hotel late in the afternoon. Enjoy dinner later. Day 2: Hog Hollow Country Lodge, Plettenberg Bay
In the morning, you head to the Cango Caves, the 20 million year-old cave system equipped with an extensive system of tunnels and chambers. Later visit Knysna, a beautiful town on the Garden Route that remains surrounded by an exquisite lagoon and ancient forests. While in Knysna, spend some time exploring the Knysna Waterfront, one of the most popular leisure and shopping destinations in the region. From here, proceed to The Crags near Plettenberg Bay, known to be of great interest for animal and nature lovers as well as appreciators of great wineries and vineyards. Embark on a cruise up the Keurbooms River and enjoy the visuals of cascading waters and sounds of bird calls. Arrive at your lodge; have dinner later. Day 3: Hog Hollow Country Lodge, Plettenberg Bay
After breakfast, visit the Elephant Sanctuary for a personal encounter with African elephants. Enjoy elephant back riding, walk trunk in hand with elephants, see them swimming and get the opportunity to feed and photograph these gentle creatures. After lunch (at your own cost), visit Birds of Eden, the largest free-flight aviary and bird sanctuary in the world and home to over 280 different species of birds. Time permitting; visitors may opt for whale and dolphin spotting aboard a boat before coming back to the lodge. Day 4: Departure
After breakfast, check out and move along the scenic Garden Route to reach the beautiful Tsitsikamma National Park. Enjoy a walk along the suspension bridge across the Storms River mouth gorge. The tour ends in Port Elizabeth. Depending upon you plans ahead; you can take a drop at the airport or a hotel of your choice in Port Elizabeth.
